Tina May, generally acknowledged as one of the UK’s finest jazz singers, brings her all-girl group to Beccles on Sunday, September 21, as the climax of the ‘Jazz Weekend’.

In this, the third concert of the weekend Tina interprets the songs of Edith Piaf in a highly acclaimed show already performed at Ronnie Scott’s Club as well as many other venues.

On Friday, September 19, the weekend opens with local trumpeter Ray Simmons and saxophone and clarinet virtuoso Ron Hockett from the US presenting an eclectic overview of jazz ‘from Blues to Bebop’.

Saturday, September 20, sees the arrival of ‘Dixiemix – East Anglia’s Hottest Dixieland Jazz Band’ led by the youthful and ‘remarkably handsome’ Simon Nelson. The band is already on their fourth CD and travels extensively having just completed a nationwide tour supporting Rod Stewart.

All three concerts are at the Waveney House Hotel, Beccles, and start at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from www.becclesfestival.co.uk and Edge Computer Solutions (opposite St Michael’s Tower). For information please ring Ray on 01502 471577.
