Stars of British Jazz will be returning to Beccles Public Hall on Saturday, December 20, making it a very festive night of trad jazz as they present “Sounds of the Trad Boom”.

They previously made a visit to the Public Hall in 2013 when they had a rip-roaring welcome from an appreciative Beccles audience.

The Jazz group comprises: Colin Wood - piano (from Acker Bilk’s Paramount Jazz Band), John Benson- double bass / vocals (ex Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen), Richie Burns - drums (ex Pete Allen Jazz Band), Graham Woodhouse - trombone / vocals (ex Pete Allen Jazz Band), Mike Cotton - trumpet (ex Acker Bilk’s Paramount Jazz Band) and Zoltan Sagi - clarinet / sax (ex Chris Barber Jazz Band) .

The Stars of British Jazz recreate traditional jazz as made popular in Britain in the 1950s and 60s which became known as “British Trad”. From this period emanated bands that dominated the British Jazz scene for many years such as the bands of Kenny Ball, Chris Barber, Acker Bilk, Terry Lightfoot and Humphrey Lyttleton all of whom became highly respected on the international jazz scene.

Tickets, £12 or £11 concessions, available on-line at www.becclespublichall.com or from the Box Office, open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 3pm. Doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. The bar will be open all evening.
