An acclaimed American folk band will be visiting Bungay to host an all-day workshop and performance focusing on the power of the protest song.
Windborne will be performing ‘Songs on the times: music for social struggle’ at Holy Trinity Church, in Trinity Street, on Saturday, April 21.
Organised by Bungay Labour Party, the concert and workshops are in aid of Bungay Area Community Transport.
A spokesman said: “Most people are aware of the extraordinary power of such songs as ‘We Shall Overcome’ and ‘Where Have All the Flowers Gone’ to effect change and provide a sense of solidarity in the face of social hardship.
“Windborne aim to show that this tradition is still very much alive and relevant.”
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7pm, are priced at £10 on the door.
The workshop, from 11am to 4pm at the Orange Hall, in Rose Lane costs £25, or £30 with concert included. Email liztaunt@gmail.com for booking forms.
