THE Fisher Youth Theatre Group is in the spotlight at Bungay's Fisher Theatre over the next nine days as its talented members stage two ambitious productions.

Currently on is the senior group's offering, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, which opened last night and continues this evening and tomorrow evening, with a 2pm matinee tomorrow.

Director Laila Choat has been honing the cast over the past eight months in preparing their own take on the story of family feuding, being forced to grow up quickly, difficult parents, first loves and secret meetings, not to mention gang fighting and murder.

The timeless love story follows the recent successes of the senior group, which has set the standard for youth theatre in the area with performances of an adult standard. The production has a Latin-South American feel, with fitting music, dance and fight scenes. Tickets are 7 (5 concessions).

On Thursday it is the junior group's turn, under the direction of Darren France, as they tackle the musical Annie on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with a Saturday matinee. Ticket prices are the same as for the seniors.

On Sunday, December 13, the British Beach Boys Christmas Show is on stage, with the authentic eight-piece Beach Boys tribute band presenting the whole range of early surfin' favourites through to later hits such as Breakaway and Do It Again. Tickets are 12 (10 concessions).

On Monday, December 14, Ray Froggat is on stage, December 15 sees the second showing of the Black Ram Theatre Company's latest production, Abigail's Party - and then it is into the pantomime season, with the first of 24 performances on Friday, December 18, of Dick Whittington.

Tickets for all events at the Fisher Theatre are available through the box office on 01986 897130, or via the website: www.fishertheatre.org
