An event illustrating artists' responses to the landscape of the Waveney and Blyth Valleys will be held at The Cut in Halesworth next weekend.

Waveney and Blyth Arts, the voluntary organisation that promotes the unique arts and landscape of the area, has had one of its most successful years to date, and will be celebrating its success and plans for 2015, at the Loving Our Landscape annual conference event.

Speakers will include landscape artist Sarah Cannell, who curated the first river art trail around the River Waveney Trust site at Earsham, Elizabeth Bracken the winner of Waveney Words Poetry Competition and Pat Holtom who co-ordinates the creative walks programme.

Nicky Stainton, chairman of Waveney and Blyth Arts, said: “Each year we organise a whole raft of creative events under the title Celebrate the Waveney and Blyth.

“This year we had 22 events and almost 1,400 people got involved in walks, workshops and competitions or attended the exhibitions, performances and talks. We have had tremendous feedback and visitors particularly enjoyed the sculpture trail organised with the River Waveney Trust. This was a trial event and we were thrilled that over 600 people came along and said how much they liked the combination of art and landscape.”

As well as the speakers there will be conversation cafes to discuss ideas and activities for next year and a news slot where artists and organisations can promote their events.

She added: “It is a great place to find out what is happening in the area and to meet other people who are doing all sorts of creative things.”

The event will be held next Saturday, November 1, from 10.30am to 1pm and costs £7 for the event alone or £20 for the event and membership of Waveney and Blyth Arts through till December 31, 2015.
