Archant

Gangsters have arrived in Bungay and taken over the Fisher Theatre.

There are still three performances left of the Fisher Youth Theatre Group’s production of Bugsy Malone, and if you sit in the front row you might be lucky enough to become part of the action!

The show will continue tonight and tomorrow at 7.30pm, with a matinee at 2pm tomorrow. Tickets are £8 or £6.

On Monday, June 13, Bungay Film Club presents The Wonders (15).

The back drop is the Italian Ligurian countryside where a drama centred on a family of beekeepers unfolds. Their perspective is changed by a chance encounter with a TV company filming a gaudy reality show. Tickets are £5 or £2.50 for members, and it’s in Italian with subtitles.

An exhibition of unusual sculptural pieces from Kieta Jackson continues at the Fisher gallery this week.

She creates organic forms and man-made vessel-like sculptures and pictures from fine metal wire, which she weaves into objects that often bear a resemblance to ancient artefacts.

It’s open daily from 10am until 3pm and also when shows are on.

Next Thursday, June 16, at 7pm, there is a live stream of the much talked about RSC Hamlet, with tickets at £12. While next Friday, June 17 at 7.30pm there is something completely different.

Clown Noir, the third part in a trilogy called Nose Business will be performed.

This standalone story is the last part charting the life of a young man who becomes a clown. This theatrical piece of storytelling shows the character break the fourth wall, talking to the audience and telling stories about his travels as a clown to Russia and then back to his home town of Manchester, now on the streets and homeless.

Simon Thompson, who plays the clown trained at Jaques Le Coq’s school in Paris. Tickets are £7 and the show is suitable for ages 15 and over.
