THE highly talented Fisher Youth Theatre Group is currently staging its summer production at the Fisher Theatre at Bungay.

St Trinians opened last night and continues tonight and tomorrow evenings at 7.30pm, with a 2pm matinee tomorrow.

In keeping with the original Ronald Searle series, it tells in hilarious detail how the chaotic boarding school tries to shape the lives of its rebellious pupils. Tormenting teachers, going to war on the hockey pitch, braving bullies and learning that friends come in various guises make for silliness, buffoonery, cross dressing and lots of laughs. Tickets are £7 (£5 concessions).

Coming up next week is the Bungay Theatre Group's latest play, At the Sign of the Crippled Harlequin, an engaging thriller featuring mistaken identity and tragedy. It is set in a snow-bound guest house in the Peak District, where Marjory Pike is identified by another guest as the author of a book declaiming certain mediums, one of whom had committed suicide as a result. The son of the deceased medium is staying at the guest house, so when he arrives in the lounge bloodiest and bruised, and Marjory is found dead, the finger of suspicion points at him.

In true Norman Robbins fashion the ensuing action is rich with shocks ands laughs as the play moves to its unexpected climax. The play is on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7.30pm, with a 3pm matinee next Saturday. Tickets are £6 (£5 concessions).

A new art exhibition by Vernon Rose opens at the theatre next Thursday and will run throughout July.

Tickets for all events at the theatre are available through the box office on 01986 897130, or via the website: www.fishertheatre.org.
