A new musical production set to follow on from the hugely popular Dreamboats and Petticoats arrives in north Suffolk next month.
Dreamboats and Miniskirts will be performed at the Marina Theatre, in Lowestoft, for just one week from March 30.
The musical is currently enjoying a major national tour and follows the enormous success of Dreamboats and Petticoats and sister show, Save The Last Dance For Me – both of which played to capacity audiences during their runs in Lowestoft.
And with tickets already in great demand, management at the venue are urging those wishing to see the show – which is being staged here for the first time ever – not to delay in booking their seats.
Produced by the same writers, creators and directors of both Dreamboats and Petticoats and Save The Last Dance For Me, Dreamboats And Miniskirts is set to take audiences back through the music and magic of the early 1960s featuring the same wit, charm, and great songs as the original.
Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, the team behind Goodnight Sweetheart, Birds of a Feather, The New Statesman, Shine on Harvey Moon, Save the Last Dance For Me and of course, Dreamboats and Petticoats, the official sequel is set in 1963.
With the world changing, Bobby and Laura’s single has not taken off and Norman and Sue have settled down to non-marital bliss – and a baby! However Ray and Donna seem blissfully happy.
The advent of the Beatles and the Merseyside sound is inspirational, but will it inspire Bobby and Laura to have one more shot at stardom?
Marina marketing manager, Karen Thompson, said: “We are delighted to have secured this prestigious new production for audiences here on the east coast.
“The show follows the enormous success of Dreamboats and Petticoats and Save The Last Dance For Me, which attracted more than 11,000 people when they were presented here a few years ago.
“Dreamboats And Miniskirts is already on course to become the must see production at the Marina this spring, and although we are confident we will be able to accommodate everyone wanting seats, I would advise those wanting tickets to book soon as possible as demand is already very high.”
The production runs at the Marina Theatre from March 30 until April 4 and features a host of classic hits including Twist and Shout, Handy Man, Pretty Woman, One Fine Day, A Picture Of You, All I Have To Do Is Dream, Do You Love Me, It’s In His Kiss, When Will I Be Loved and many more.
