Two sisters are "delighted" to have taken over a Norfolk town's dentist after it closed six months ago.

Sonia and Sahar Ahmadiani have always worked in dentistry are now partners of the former BUPA Practise at the town's old police station in Harleston.

In March this year, BUPA announced that they would close the practice and 85 others across the country.

For Sahar, 34, who was working as a dentist in the practice already, it was a shame as the future looked uncertain when it officially closed in June.

After liaising with her sister, Sonia, the two made BUPA an offer to purchase the branch - which was accepted.

Yesterday, December 8, was the second day after reopening the practice with Sahar operating as a dentist and Sonia working in the management of the facility.

Sahar said: "BUPA accepted our approach because I was already working as an associate here.

"It has been a long journey and we are so delighted to be here and open to looking after the community after for so long there was the scare that the town's only dentist would be closing.

"When BUPA closed they took nearly everything so we have had to start fresh again, buying everything needed, it has not been easy but we are so happy to be finally up and running."

MPs have long raised concerns that Norfolk and Suffolk have become 'dental deserts'.

There are even horror stories of some people resorting to carrying out their own teeth extraction because they have been unable to get registered with NHS dentists.

Sahar and Sonia, 35, are currently only accepting private patients while they sort their diaries out regarding NHS patients having only just opened.

They are pleased to offer all "complex dental treatments".

"We are doing implant, Invisalign treatment and facial aesthetics as well as all complex dental treatments by our experienced team of dentists.

"We do not need to refer patients for anything as we offer it all in-house, we now would love to welcome patients and let people know the practice is open," Sonia said.

The sisters are proud to have been able to keep on the "same lovely team of staff" who were working there before.
