A move to place an alcohol ban at a town's beauty spot on the Norfolk Broads is still being explored, eight months after problems with anti-social behaviour were first raised.

At a Loddon Parish Council meeting in September 2022 councillor Kay Mason Billig reported that there have been several incidents of anti-social behaviour at the Staithe.

She had been advised by Norfolk Police that if a bylaw was in place it could be applied discretionally.

Mrs Billig proposed that a bylaw restricting the public consumption of alcohol be put in place at Loddon Staithe to deter the anti-social behaviour and the council resolved to investigate the possibility of a local bylaw.

In recent years there have been vandalism issues to the toilets at the Staithe in addition to anti-social behaviour at the river spot.

In subsequent meetings following the September gathering the proposal has been featured on the agenda each time and has been consistently deferred.

This was the outcome of the council's most recent meeting on April 12.

The council's next meeting is May 17.
