Beer barrels were drunk dry as thousands enjoyed a Suffolk town's "ever-growing" beer festival.

Organisers of the Bungay Beer and Music Festival were "delighted" that the sun shone brightly over the weekend and thousands turned up to support the event.

Stuart Buck, the lead organiser of the bank holiday weekend event, said: "From 2016 when we started the Bungay Beer Festival, serving beer from the back of the cricket score hut, we are delighted to now be running one of the largest beer festivals in the area.

"We have grown exponentially, and are ever-growing, and I owe a huge thanks to the people for showing up, but also the team of people who made it happen.

"I want to say a huge thanks to the wonderful bar staff, the bands and DJs, fellow organisers, and people working backstage and behind the scenes, but also a huge thanks to our sponsors."

The festival, which was from last Friday to Sunday, had 31 different beers and 10 ciders for punters to choose from.

Mr Buck said: "It was great that we were so well supported this year, on each day we had floods of people.

"It was magnificent to see families turn out to enjoy the sunshine and entertainment from the clown on Saturday to the bands that had the tent stomping on Friday.

"The DJs had the clubhouse pumping Saturday night, and by 6pm on Sunday the very last of the beer was finished off to round off a great weekend."

The festival was raising money for the EACH charity and the Bungay Cricket Club and the totals are still being counted with money still coming in.

Mr Buck continued: "Not all the money has been counted and we are still taking donations, if you were in attendance and didn't get the chance to donate, please see our fundraising page.

"Thanks to everyone for coming down to make a marvellous weekend of fun in the sun."
