Dates for this year's much anticipated Bungay Music and Beer Festival have been announced with "even bigger" plans revealed for it.

Last year the event was held in July attracting more than 1,000 visitors over the weekend with the beer barrels being drunk dry.

The Maltings Pavilion will again host the event on the last bank holiday of May 26-28.

But festival organiser Stuart Buck says this year's event will offer "more live music, live DJ's and a bigger selection of beers".

Mr Buck, from the festival organisation committee, said: "We are particularly excited as the festival gains momentum and gets bigger each year.

"We are hoping to make this another memorable event showcasing the musical talent we have in Bungay along with some great ales, more live music, live DJ's and a bigger selection of beers.

"In addition, the Maltings Pavilion will, as usual, be open for other beverages throughout the event."

The event's full line is to follow, but already confirmed is the popular Soul Night on Saturday where DJs will be bringing some northern soul, Motown, funk and reggae to the town.

Hot food will be available throughout.

Mr Buck said: "I hope that we can introduce a family element to the festival for the youngsters so that parents and carers can relax while the kids have fun.

"Despite rising costs, we are committed to making this a free event to the community with donations going to the EACH charity.

"Last year we raised £1,300 for the MIND charity."
