A teenager has been summoned to appear in court later this month to face allegations of assaulting school children outside a shop in a market town.

The incident happened outside of the Premier Store at Castle Hill in Beccles on February 2 at around 8.15 am.

A man wearing a balaclava got out of a car passenger seat and punched several school children outside of the shop.

The attack led to the headteacher of SET Beccles, Neil Ketteringham, enforcing special arrangements to protect the safety of his pupils.

A Suffolk police spokesperson said: "A 19-year-old man has been summoned to Ipswich Magistrates Court on August 21.

"The man is to face four charges of assault that took place on February 2, 2023 in Beccles."
